Pittsburgh Zoo

Before we went to the zoo today, Joy rolled over from her back to her belly for the first time!

We had a very nice time at the zoo. Paul enjoyed rushing from exhibit to exhibit and seeing all the animals. He really loved the fish, especially the big ones and the sharks, as well as the penguins. Joy was a trooper as well.

Joy and Cana

Joy loves to watch Cana. To entertain her, I put a dirty pot down for Cana to clean in front of her.

Visit with Keli, Clay and Max

We were happy to go visit Keli, Clay and Baby Max on Wednesday. Joy was trying out the Momeroo.

Bonnet

They both look cute in the white bonnet!

"Peeling"

I cant believe it took me this long to figure this one out. Paul always wants to help when I'm peeling things. I didn't have any safe thing that looked like a peeler to give him. Then I remembered my seldom used zester and it was the right tool for the job!

Later that day...
I caused a small fire. I haven't had much time to cook lately with a baby and a 2 year old, so I was very excited about making potato soup today. I had the potatoes peeled and diced and the onions, celery, carrots and fresh herbs from the garden chopped and just starting to soften on the stove. I wondered why so much smoke should be coming from the vegetables. Then I realized I had knocked a silicone baby bottle valve in the stove under the pan and that it was on fire. The fire was easily put out but there were ashes everywhere; I'm still cleaning them up. Figuring that silicone ashes were probably not healthy for my family, I had to throw dinner out. Oh well, at least that was the only fire damage.

Joy's Baptism

Joy's Baptism was a wonderful day. The service was very nice. She was sweet until she got the water put on her head, then she fussed a little. Pastor Linda gave her back to me and with her binky she settled down. Then I took her and showed her off around the church while they sang "Jesus Loves the Little Children" Afterwards we had a very pleasant afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa Cowan, Grandma and Pappy Speer, Grandma Ely and Nini.

Washington County Fair

We went to the fair Tuesday with Dina and family to see Monster Trucks. It was so crowded we did not get to watch the Monster Trucks, but the kids had fun anyway. We visited the cows that Dave had at the fair (including Belle from our barn) and they got to pet one of the big ones named "Billy." They also got to ride rides. Dina said Olivia's been talking about the cows ever since!

On Thursday I was feeling adventurous and took Paul and Joy by myself. I put in the stroller without the car seat adapter and she did very well. In the picture, Paul said, "I'm having my own tractor pull." He really liked looking at all the tractors.

Tractor Pull

Paul loved the Antique Tractor Pull at the fairgrounds. He sat and watched them for over an hour!

Garden Woes

The verdict is in: I canNOT handle a garden, a 2 year old and a newborn. First, I lost count of the zucchinis, then they all died. At least Shawn is keeping up with the tomatoes, we should be canning some soon.

Paul is trying to find his sandbox in the mess of weeds that is our garden.

Brotherly Love

Paul likes to load up Joy's new Bumbo tray with toys. She likes to play with the cars. I always need a spot to set her down while I help Paul...a laundry basket is as good as anything.

Bundled Up

Cooler nights mean cooler morning walks.

Punk Rock Baby

My friend Michelle, whose kids were born in the 80's, said her one daughter had just as much hair that was just as crazy as Joy's. She said she was in the mall one day when a kid saw her baby and said, "Look, it's a punk rock baby!" Well, Joy definitely looked like the punk rock baby yesterday!

Rairigh Birthday Party

Paul had lots of water fun at David and Abby Rairigh's birthday party.

Calves

Here are Belle and Tianna (the one who jumped the fence). Jasmine was not cooperating with the photo. Sure is fun to have calves in the barn!

New "Snowblower"

Paul has wanted a snow blower since he saw one in Grandpa's garage. He was satisfied with this bubble blower.

Visit with Aimee, Kaitlyn and Tugs

Aimee came and cleaned this filthy house, God Bless her! And the kids had a ball as always. Kaitlyn was a great babysitter!
