Busy Week and Weekend

Very thankfully, Paul was fine after his fall from his crib. The end of the week and weekend were very busy. Thursday night we went to Cabellas. Paul had a blast looking at all the animals and he really loved the aquarium. There were very few people in the store, and he spent about a half hour just running back and forth excitedly from side to side looking at the fish. Now he knows the sign for fish!

Friday, we went and hung out with Jacinta, Jacob and Elizabeth in the morning. Paul was very shy and didn't start playing with the other kids till it was time to go. Still, it was very nice to see them all. Then we went and visited Grandma at work. After that, we hung out with Aunt Cindy for the afternoon. Paul and Aunt Cindy napped while Mama and Guiness went for a nice run.

Saturday we went to visit Grandma Haskins. Paul had fun playing on her steps and throwing the balls for her dogs. It was great for us all to have a chance to spend time with her. Then that evening we went to a party at Beth Rebidue's house for April Naylor, who was in town from Arizona. I got to hang out with lots of my sorority sisters, some whom I hadn't seen since college. It was a very nice time and Paul had fun playing with Keli and Gina. It was especially exciting to see Becky and to congratulate her on her pregnancy. And to laugh as she told me how she was easily grossed out by things such as saliva.

Today Paul slept during nursery at church. He came home and we watched the Pens win in a shoot out with Shawn.

Flour Mess

I let Paul play in the cupboard while I cleaned up after dinner. Big mistake!! There went my whole wheat pastry flour all over the floor. No, it couldn't be the cheap all purpose flour, it had to be the expensive whole wheat pastry flour! He had a ball playing in it; he even made snow angels. Cana licked a lot of it up until she started drooling paste. It was a gross, fun mess for all. Oh, and did I mention that I just mopped the floor about 6 hours earlier?

Developmental Update

Lots of new things have been happening lately...

Paul finally got his 4th tooth on the top. He has 2 on the bottom and has been working on the two on either side forever, at least 3 months.

Last night, Shawn went in to get Paul when he heard him crying in the middle of the night. He found him out of his crib pounding on the door. He had to have fallen right on his head. I can't believe there is only a small mark and I'm so, so thankful that he seems just fine. We lowered the crib to the bottom rung and it does not seem that he will be able to get out. We put the twin mattress underneath just in case. We'll get him into the toddler bed in the next couple weeks.

Right now, Paul says the following words: dada, juice, cheese, bubbles, no, uh oh, and mama. He makes several animal sounds. He knows many signs, such as Cana, dada, milk, dog, bird, momma, cat, baby, more, up, bath, cheese, elephant, eat, hot, and more. He still makes the cat sign for Aunt Cindy.

Gnocchi Making

We had a great visit with Aunt Cindy, Keli and Clay yesterday. Keli and I finally make homemade gnocchi. Yum! It was lots of fun; we felt like little old Italian women. Paul had fun making paste out of the gnocchi. Everybody enjoyed playing with Paul.

Paul continues to make the "cat" sign for Aunt Cindy. It must have been because she was sitting outside with the cats when I taught him that sign. We appreciated Aunt Cindy's company while Dada and Grandpa went to the concert.

Computer Games

Paul loves to play the ABC game on Fisher-Price.com. It's amazing how quickly he learns the animal sounds.

Sunshine

We were thrilled about the 40 degree weather today. Paul could finally make his way around in the snow now that it melted a little bit. We can't wait to spend lots of time outside this week.

First Time Coloring

Paul colored for the first time today. He had lots of fun. He only ate a little bit of crayon. We've been getting a little bit of cabin fever, so coloring is now our new fun activity.

Bryce's Birthday Party

We had a very nice time at Bryce Gagatko's birthday party. Bryce wanted to hug and reach out for Paul. Paul didn't quite know what to think.

Mama and Paul really enjoyed the chocolate cupcake!

I love the pictures of Julie , Lauren and I with all our kids since there was a time when we all despaired of ever being able to have kids. Today was the first time we were able to get Paul, Bryce and Rachel together.

I was also very glad to have Michelle's company and navigation skills.

Winter Clothes

Paul in Dada's gloves, Paul in his new hat, and Cana in Paul's new hat.
