What a
fabulous family day at the Good Zoo. We
had a nice picnic with Keli at the lake first.
Then the kids had fun with absolutely everything. Paul liked the reptiles, especially the
snakes. When he was looking at the big
snake, he backed into a tree behind him and jumped and screamed; he thought the
tree was a snake. We had a good
laugh. Later he bought a stuffed snake
and he has not stopped carrying it around since.
They had a
great time playing on the playground, feeding nectar to the Lorikeets, talking
to some grey geese (or some such bird) and seeing all the other animals. Paul was elated to see hyenas (painted
dogs). Paul, Joy and I brushed the goats...Shawn
didn't want to get that close to a llama.
Paul got to
pan for gold and gems and to bring what he discovered home. We just got finished sorting and identifying
all his rocks.
The kids
were really fascinated by the thing that makes coins go around and around and
around. They both intently watched it
for a long time. I remember it from when
I was little. Paul and Shawn had coin races.
The kids
were very well behaved and it was a great day for the Speers.
