Jumping in the Mud

Paul and Joy were so happy to get to play in the mud today.  It had been raining all day and finally cleared up.  I just threw their clothes and Joy's shoes in the trash when they were done.

As soon as we came in, it poured again for about 10 minutes.  Then the sun came out again and a rainbow appeared.

MOPS at Home

It was am absolutely beautiful day for MOPS at home on Tuesday.  Everyone stayed well into the afternoon and the kids had a blast playing inside and outside.

Spring Has Arrived!

Finally the weather has been 60 and sunny for 2 days!  Shawn took the days off work and has been working on tilling the garden/filling in the old chicken house.  Paul was  happy to go for a ride.

Deep Fry Mania (Corn Dogs and Doughnuts)

Paul always wants me to make corn dogs.  I had semolina dough in the fridge, and semolina flour is kind of like corn meal, so I wrapped it around some hot dogs and fried them up.  They were super fabulous!

I made pumpkin brioche doughnuts too.  I had made the dough to make sticky buns for MOPS.  They were fairly easy and good.  Paul loved them. He ate 4, including a giant one I made with the scraps.  Fortunately, it was a nice evening and we could get outside.  Otherwise I'm quite sure he would have been bouncing off the wall.

Cabellas with Grandpa

Paul had lots of fun playing shooting games with Grandpa while Joy and I looked at the animals and climbed on the quads.

Homemade Yogurt

I had yogurt working in the crock pot and Shawn's raw veggie burgers working in the dehydrator.  I was excited about the yogurt, but it didn't turn out like yogurt.  It was thin and runny even after draining for 24 hours.  I think 1. the house was too cold and 2. I should have used cheese cloth, not a paper towel to drain.  However, it did make a really good crème fraîche to use for chicken paprikash and in chili and other such applications.
